Pediatric Advanced Life Support “PALS” is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that prepares participants to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high-performance team dynamics and high-quality individual skills. Participants use the systematic approach, including initial, primary, and secondary assessments to identify pediatric medical emergencies and provide intervention strategies to resolve pediatric emergencies. Participants are strongly encouraged to have a working knowledge of pediatric settings, including the treatment of respiratory, shock, and cardiovascular manifestations. The skills are taught in large and small group sessions with testing stations with case-based scenarios completed by each participant.
A PALS Provider Manual is required to take this course. The PALS initial course is 16 hours and is completed in a hybrid format with the Heartcode PALS followed with a skills check required for the hands-on portion of the class at the Training Center. The PALS renewal class is an 8-hour hands-on class with didactic lecture in the morning followed by skills in the afternoon.

- Registration in advance of attending the class is required. Registration can be completed on our website by clicking on the REGISTER tab or speaking with our staff.
- The cost of the class includes an American Heart Association completion certificate which is valid for 2 years and is emailed to each participant after the class.
- RMCPR does our best not to cancel a class; occassionally classes are rescheduled due to low attendance.
- Class changes can be made 48 hours in advance of the class. If class changes are made in less than 48 hours of the class, a $20 reschedule fee will be charged.

The American Heart Association highly recommends that attendees purchase the manual for attended classes, and for purchasing the instructor manuals for the disciplines that you teach.
Electronic manuals are now available and the link will be emailed to you separately after you register. The electronic manuals will be stored on the AHA network under the bookshelf tab.
Physical books will be provided at the class or you can pick them up from our training center in advance.
