First, and before attending this course, you MUST purchase the ACLS Heartcode video from ShopCPR.com (https://shopcpr.heart.org/ – Product Number: 20-3554 $151.00) and complete the course before attending the in-person skills check at our training center. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support “ACLS” is an advanced, instructor-led class highlighting the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care for adult populations. In this class, participants learn airway management, related pharmacology, and EKG rhythm identification. This training is geared towards medical professionals and prepares the provider to respond to cardiac arrest, bradycardia, and tachycardia emergencies. Participants are strongly encouraged to have a working knowledge of EKG interpretation, cardiac medications, and care systems in an emergency. The skills are taught in large and small group sessions with testing stations with case-based scenarios completed by each participant.
An ACLS Provider Manual is required for taking this course. The class covers the BLS curriculum, and participants will earn a BLS Provider certification card if they take the BLS Provider exam. This ACLS initial course is 16 hours and is completed in a hybrid format with the Heartcode ACLS followed by a skills check required for the hands-on portion of the class at the Training Center. The ACLS renewal class is an 8-hour hands-on class with a didactic lecture followed by skills in the afternoon.
