Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support “PALS” is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course prepares participants to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills. 

Participants use the systematic approach including initial, primary and secondary assessments to identify pediatric medical emergencies and provide intervention strategies to resolve pediatric emergencies. Participants are strongly encouraged to have a working knowledge of pediatric settings including the treatment of respiratory, shock, and cardiovascular manifestations.  

The skills are taught in large and small group sessions with testing stations with case-based scenarios completed by each participant.  A PALS Provider Manual is required to take this course. The PALS initial course is 16 hours and is completed in a hybrid format with the Heartcode PALS followed with a skills check is required for the hands on portion of the class at the Training Center. 

The PALS renewal class is an 8-hour hands-on class with didactic lecture in the morning followed by skills in the afternoon. PALS CLASSES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.
