The American Heart Association's Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course covers how to perform CPR skills on adults, children and infants. Additional skills that will be taught include the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of an airway obstruction. This class is for anyone with limited or no medical training and who needs a course completion card for their job or other requirement (day-care providers, coaches, river-raft guides, or foster parents). The Heartsaver certification is is valid for two years. The cost of the book is included in the price of the class. This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements. This is a hybrid course where the First Aid video modules are watched in advance of attending the class at the training center. After registering you will receive the link to start the video portion within 24 hours. The CPR AED portion is a combination of instructor teaching and complimenting instruction videos and the class time is 4 hours. The CPR AED portion of the class will cover skills for adults, children and infants. Each participant will receive a Heartsaver manual when they arrive at class; the cost of the manual is included in the class registration. There is not a renewal course for the Heartsaver.
